Eagles at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge

Melinda and I spent the afternoon hiking about 4 miles into the refuge into the area where the bald eagles hunt during the afternoons. This area is off limits until September 1st every year so the birds are not real used to people being in the area so they are a little more skittish than usual. One pair did cooperate buy soaring over a few times at a relative low altitude. Another treat was getting to watch one of the babies from the spring hatch also out doing his/her thing this afternoon. It was a good warm up for our trip up to Hawk Ridge in a couple of weeks then full eagle migration along the Mississippi as winter draws closer.
