2014 Glacier National Park Trip

Well, I always told Melinda I wanted to get married on a glacier. We compromised and got married in Glacier August 5, 2014

This couldn't have happened in a more beautiful place. It was awesome having the kids with us. The blending of our family is complete.

It's hard to tell the whole story in photos for this adventure as it can be overwhelming trying to take it all in. Everywhere you look is a shot. So, in this entry I'm going to try to hit the high points and at some time do a part 2 which has more to do with us and less of what we saw.

The view from our cabin in the Flathead valley east of Kalispell looking east towards the Swan range.

In the valley itself, there is literally an osprey nest where ever you look.

Within minutes of our wedding ceremony, we were changed into hiking clothes and taking in the site of the majestic Glacier National Park. I hadn't been here since I was about 9 or 10 years old but the memories of certain places and view rapidly returned.

The Going to the Sun Road is truly one of the most amazing roadways in the world.

View looking back down on the GTSR from just below the Highline trail. The red arrow indicates our vehicle.

5 views of different peaks from Pollock mountain to Piegan mountain on the east side of the continental divide. Lunch Creek in that 5th image.

St Mary Lake on the east side of the divide.

Shots along the Hidden Lake trail.

Our hike was cut short by an area closed off due to bear danger. The reason why can be found HERE

Some shots from the Polebridge area up to Bowman Lake. We had a good sized grizzly bear cross the road about 100 feet from us going up to the lake but the brush was so thick I couldn't get a shot.

Wild Horse Island State Park out in Flathead Lake. Add this to your list of stuff to do in that area. In addition to the horses, there are full curl bighorn sheep and some monster mule deer bucks also.

All shots from Wild Horse Island. Make sure you shop around for transportation out to the island. We used boatrentalsandrides out of Big Arm, MT.

Saw quite a bit of wildlife other than on Wild Horse Island also.

The goats were my favorites.

They always have the right of way on the trails around Logan Pass.

Even a grouse or two up by Bowman Lake.

As is there wasn't enough to see, there is always whitewater rafting on the middle fork of the Flathead River. I am the goof with the camera on my head.

This was awesome. So different than doing whitewater in a kayak.

Water is a huge part of our lives in Minnesota. Montana was no different.

Just a few random people shots from throughout the trip.

Final morning watching the sun rise over the Swan range before hopping a plane for the less than 2 hour trip home. If I could do it, my weekend home would be right on this spot.
