Attack of the bald eagle

Evidently male eagles don't like it when their woman is getting checked out. Full story and pics

The only thing which would have made it better would have been if someone else had me on video with the "O S***" cry before ducking down in the mud. You know how a tornado gets bigger as it comes straight at you? The same same thing applies to eagles. This thing looked like it was dropping straight down but the wing span kept increasing!

New teleconverter and my eagle neighbors

Decided to support the economy with the purchase of a 2x teleconveter for the 70-200 f2.8 lens. I'm pretty happy with it.

Took it out this evening to check on the resident eagles. The light was horribly flat again and the eagles didn't want to come in a close as usual (all shots are at least 150 to 200 yards out) so this was a good test.

All these pics are crops shot at 400mm f5.6 so considering, it will be fun to see what this thing will do when the sun is shining on them. The leaves are rapidly appearing so our nest viewing days are limited.

The eaglets should start becoming more active within a few weeks. On yeah...wood ticks are out now so be sure to check the kids when they come in. No Lymes Disease please.

May 4th Eagles Part II

The nest by my house has 2 eaglettes. Hopefully one doesn't kill the other (as is common with bald eagles). Camped out near the river and watched the parents hunt to feed the offspring and reminded myself why I really need to get a 2x teleconverter. Anyhow, here are some cropped low res shots from this evening.
