Sometimes I wonder....Chasers vs Maslow

Not sure why I thought of this but in light of all the recent squabbles/resignations/redefinitions which are occurring in the chaser subculture, has anyone else stopped to compare what is going to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? It's almost spooky how a chaser's career mirrors this sociology model.

Seems like chasers spend the majority of their careers in social and esteem needs level. Do you finally reach self-actualization when either you just don't care anymore or once you have met your own personal goals? Or is it when you finally just chase for yourself and screw the opinions of "peers"?

Good point, Bill. I still think I am at the bottom with hunger LOL. I've got a long ways to go yet on learning about chasing. I've done enough "learning" on the social aspect of it to last me a lifetime. I go out of my way these days to avoid chasers out in the field as it takes away from my experience.

I just love that feeling you get, where it's just you and the storm, and you realize at that point, "If someone were to ask me again why I waste my money, time, relationships more money lol on chasing storms..... I'd just show them this."

I drive by all of these people in a hurry all the time, busy, constantly rushed, and think to myself, "Man, these guys will probably never get to see what I do every Spring, they'll miss out on that in life. To each his own I guess.

But back to the subject, you make a very good point. I don't see many getting to the self-actualization...ever. Not for a long, long time at least.

Very sad I think. Never in a million years would I have thought the chasing world would be like that.
For me I am no yahoo, I don't intend on chasing by myself until I have all aspects of forecasting down. Plus I am poor so I wont be out there for quite sometime.
I agree with Dm When the time does come I will probably only have one partner I don't need a club or the b.s. that goes with it.
I am there for the storm and knowledge. When u see the show, you will see me apart from everybody most of the time, I was absorbing everything and I don't like distractions. lol

I am pretty hungry myself... of course, given my location, that's a gimme.

Dick, Love the bit you said about... "I just love that feeling you get, where it's just you and the storm, and you realize at that point, 'If someone were to ask me again why I waste my money, time, relationships more money lol on chasing storms..... I'd just show them this.'"
