Long range GFS looking into Jan 8-9-10

Usually I don't put much faith into models over 7 days out but the GFS has done a really good job so far this winter season (as it is not quite as biased as the WRF for overplaying moisture). The weather weenies have been pretty excited about the system progged to pull out of the southern plains and make a beeline for Minnesota the middle of next week. I'm not holding my breath for much snow up here as this track usually means we get dry slotted pretty quickly with a better chance of snow from wrap around moisture. I am having a hard time believing the incredibly mild temps forecasted to advect north on the warm side of the trough as there is a pretty decent snow pack in place south of here. We'll see...
