Finally...real thunder this year

Still playing the waiting game on chasing for real this year. Today's set up was kinda iffy and I didn't feel like pulling strings at work to end up chasing a "modified cold-core" event. Congrats to Van DeWald from the OAX WFO who bagged the torn in Sioux county Iowa.

After a good potluck dinner celebrating the end of Cullen's competitive shooting season, got home and waited for the line to lift north towards us. The second good crash about 12:30am got me moving out of bed and sitting on the front step watching the nearly continuous cloud to cloud lightning. Wasn't more than a minute or so and Cullen was up sitting with me...wrapped up in a sleeping bag and all. Yep, he never changes. This kid has been getting up in the middle of the night since he was 4 years old to watch 20 minutes of lightning then head back to bed. Mouse slept through it again...she'll change eventually too. Anyhow, here are a couple of shots tonight playing with the f4 wide angle lens at 20s f11. Even got to make a hail report to MPX tonight. The season is finally here...
