05 02 08 IA cold core

Took a chance on some really wicked helicities and very cold H5 temps in northern Iowa yesterday. Got on two severe warned storms but both were unimpressive with only high winds. I usually don't mess with cold core setups, but what the heck. To the east of Mason City it became pretty evident the vort max lobe rotating around the low had chewed up all of the 0-3km CAPE and with the lapse rates flattening out, the chances for a brief tornado were not in the books. At least it was nice to feel some warmer air for a bit before coming home to 37F temps and driving rain. Sun is out today so I'm off to go look for eagles and hit up Cabela's for a new spotting scope.

ewww, ewwwwww, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww, wow you must be dealing with some serious SDS if you went down there for that crap. Just wait, June will be here soon enough and then the northern chase season will be here.

It could have been worse. You could have gone to the Twins game on Saturday. Neva had tickets and it was fun for the most part but overall, 4 hours of watching the cap trying to break with no after dark storms to easy he long wait.
