Eagle nursery duty and signs of spring will get here

Signs of spring I notice:

1) Saw the first roadkill raccoon of the year on CR92 south of Rockford, MN the other morning.
2) The kids are concerned with meeting up with a skunk outside based on the evening odor drifting over pastures near the house.
3) I changed the color palette on GR reflectivity mode back over to liquid precip for the year.
4) Reading the forecast blog entries from the southern plains chasers as the first early marginal days pop up as the season gets rolling.
5) Reading the forecast blog entries from the northern chasers who want to go south as the first early marginal days pop up as the season gets rolling. Hope springs eternal is never more evident as it is in March each year.

What started out as a beautiful Saturday yesterday ended up with light rain and drizzle. After wrapping up Cailyn's basketball season I headed out to check 6 more eagle nests. 4 for sure had nesting pairs on eggs already while one looks abandoned and one I can never tell since the bird on the eggs sits to low and there is no high spot to look down into the nest from.

The following shots are from Monticello nest #1 at changing time as the male took over incubating the eggs so the female could go forage for food.

Notice the buds on the tree? Green up in 2 months!
