July 22 2010 Tornado Warned Storm....It's a family thing

One of those days when the tornado parameters sneak up on you. The morning looked like crap up in the Red River Valley. However shortly after noon with some modest instability building in northeastern South Dakota and being transported north, the kinematics really took over . Sure enough, it turned out to be one of those days when the weather enthusiasts who let the SPC do their targeting for them get mad because they didn't see it coming.

There was no way I could have gotten out of work in time to make the run up I-94 to the area west of Elbow Lake, but my mom, Pat, did!

A low topped supercell rapidly developed with a pretty decent isolated lowering.

With just a few minutes the cell developed a nice wall cloud and what appears to be a funnel.

The cell pulsed a coupled of times then did produce a possible tornado at Brandon, MN.

By the time I was able to get out of the house the cell, I had to intercept it at Albany, MN. Obviously outflow dominant at this time, it still showed some cool structure to it.

Glad your mom was able to chase this storm. It sucks being stuck at work while there are chases going on. I ended up missing several this season. Oh well, that's just the way it happens.
