Swan song

Came across about a hundred trumpeter swans on the Mississippi River between Monticello and Elk River on Friday. Went back today as am finally feeling better. Not good...just better. Good sign of spring is really on the way was the number of Bluebills and Redheads I saw flying up the river near sunset. Only 4 weeks or so until the lakes are ice free.

I have no idea how I screwed up the exposure on this shot. It was hard to control the white balance as these shots were taken about 6pm with the sun shining more at the swans than down on them.

It was really cool to hear all of them start sounding at the same time. They are called "trumpeter swans" for a reason.
