December 6th Black Dog Eagles

Photobucket

Had to make a run into the Minneapolis metro area this morning so called my chase partner, David Drufke, to see if he had been out scouting the Minnesota River near his house for eagles. As fast as everything was freezing up, I had a hunch there would be birds moving through on their way to the Mississippi and open water. I was not surprised when David answered his phone and told me he and Kristen were already out and there were birds. Best day of the migration by far. Very interested in seeing if the arctic air on the back side of the mid-week storm will ice over Lake Pepin. Alma, WI could be hot next weekend. Stay tuned.
